To our wonderful Roundwood families,

We are delighted to share some exciting news about the next chapter of Roundwood Vets.

After many years of working together to care for the pets of Willesden, Harlesden and the surrounding communities, Roundwood Vets is now fully owned by us, Dr Jo Nuttall BVSc MRCVS and Nikki Roberts RVN.

For many of you, this probably will not feel like a significant change at all. We've had the privilege of leading and managing the practice for the past six years under the ownership, guidance and mentorship of Dr Dave Nicol BVMS MRCVS. His trust in us, his commitment to independent veterinary practice and his support behind the scenes have played a huge part in shaping Roundwood Vets and preparing us for this exciting next chapter.

In fact, much like a rare bird sighting, some of you may only have spotted Dave in the practice once or twice over the years, but his influence can be seen throughout Roundwood Vets. His belief in independent veterinary care, his unwavering support of the team, the culture of kindness and growth he helped foster, and his commitment to our community have all helped shape the practice we are proud to lead today.

While the ownership structure has changed, the things that matter most remain exactly the same: the team you know, the familiar faces who greet you, the values we share and our commitment to providing compassionate, personal veterinary care for every pet who walks through our doors.

The values that have guided Roundwood Vets for many years will continue to shape everything we do. Honesty, Kindness, Conscientiousness, Teamwork, Growth and Fun are at the heart of our practice. They influence how we care for our patients, how we support one another as a team and how we build lasting relationships with the families who trust us with their pets.

This is not the start of a new direction. Rather, it is the continuation of a journey that has been many years in the making, guided by Dave's vision and support and built on the relationships we have with our clients, our patients and our incredible team.

Looking Back at the Roundwood Story

Every practice has a story, and Roundwood Vets is one we are incredibly proud of.

Back in December 2015, Dr Dave Nicol and Dr Hannah Parkin took ownership of Roundwood Vets from Dr Steve. At the time, it was a much smaller practice with a loyal client base, one vet and a part-time nurse. What it already had, however, was something incredibly special: a strong connection to the local community and a reputation for caring for local pets and their families.

Dave and Hannah saw the opportunity to build an independent veterinary practice where pets would receive outstanding care and owners would always feel welcomed, supported and listened to. Over the following years, they invested in the team, the facilities and the future of the practice, helping Roundwood grow into the thriving community practice it is today.

In late 2019, Hannah left Roundwood Vets, and in early 2020, under Dave's guidance and mentorship, we joined the leadership team and became part of the next chapter of the practice's story. Like every veterinary practice, we soon found ourselves navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a period none of us will ever forget, but it also highlighted the strength of our team, the resilience of our clients and the importance of trusted local veterinary care. Looking back, those years strengthened the culture, teamwork and community spirit that continue to define Roundwood Vets today.

Together, we have continued to develop the practice while staying true to the values that have always mattered most. Kindness in every interaction, honesty in our communication, conscientious care for every patient and a commitment to continuous growth have helped guide us through both challenges and successes.

Many of the improvements and developments we have introduced over the years have been shaped by listening to our clients and our team. Roundwood has grown alongside the community it serves, and we are grateful for the trust, feedback and support that have helped shape the practice we are today.

Roundwood Vets is proud to remain one of the area's few truly independent veterinary practices. At a time when many veterinary clinics across the UK have become part of larger corporate groups, we believe there is real value in remaining locally owned, community focused and able to make decisions based on what is best for our patients, clients, team and wider community.

A Message from Dave

As we mark this milestone, we wanted to share a few words from Dave.

"When Hannah and I took ownership of Roundwood in 2015, we wanted to build a genuinely independent practice that would provide excellent veterinary care while remaining closely connected to the community it served.

Over the years, thanks to the dedication of an incredible team and the trust of our wonderful clients, Roundwood has grown into something we are all immensely proud of. Watching that growth has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

None of this would have been possible without the remarkable team who have helped build Roundwood over the years. Their commitment, kindness and professionalism have always been at the heart of the practice.

The veterinary profession has changed enormously during that time. Increasingly, independent practices have become part of larger corporate groups, and while there are many excellent people working throughout the profession, it was always important to me that Roundwood's future remained true to the values on which it was built.

For that reason, finding the right people to continue the practice was incredibly important.

Having worked alongside Jo and Nikki for the past six years, I have seen first-hand their commitment to their patients, their clients and their team. They have been at the heart of Roundwood's day-to-day leadership and have played a huge role in shaping the practice you know today.

I couldn't be happier to see them take full ownership. The practice is in exceptionally capable hands, and I know its future as an independent veterinary practice is secure.

Thank you for trusting Roundwood with the care of your pets over the years. It has been an enormous privilege to be part of this community and a chapter of my professional life that I will always treasure."

Dr Dave Nicol

We are incredibly grateful to Dave for everything he has contributed to Roundwood over the past decade. His belief in independent veterinary practice, his support of the team, his commitment to our values and his dedication to our community have helped create the practice we are proud to lead today.

Why Roundwood Vets Matters to Us

Reflecting on this milestone, we wanted to share what Roundwood means to us personally.

"Roundwood has never been just a veterinary practice to us. Over the past six years, we've had the privilege of getting to know generations of local families and their pets, sharing in happy moments, supporting people through difficult decisions and building relationships that go far beyond a consultation room.

One of the greatest privileges of working at Roundwood is seeing those relationships develop over time. We've cared for pets through different stages of their lives, welcomed new additions to families, looked after multiple generations of pets within the same household and shared both joyful and difficult moments with the families who trust us with their pets' care.

What makes Roundwood Vets special is its connection to the community. We're not a large corporate group making decisions from afar; we're part of this neighbourhood. We see familiar faces every day, we know many of our patients by name and we genuinely care about the people as much as the pets.

Those relationships are strengthened by the values that guide us every day. We strive to be honest and transparent, kind in every interaction, conscientious in the care we provide, supportive of one another through teamwork and committed to continual growth and learning. We also believe that enjoying what we do matters. Veterinary care can be challenging, and creating a positive environment where people feel supported and valued helps us provide the very best care for our patients.

For us, Roundwood is about people, pets and community. It's about celebrating new puppies and kittens, helping pets stay healthy throughout their lives, supporting owners through difficult diagnoses and being there when families need us most. Being trusted to care for a much-loved family member is something we never take for granted.

We also believe exceptional veterinary care starts with exceptional people. That's why we are committed to creating a practice where our team feels supported, respected and able to thrive. When our team flourishes, our patients and clients benefit too.

As we take on full ownership of the practice, we're incredibly proud to continue the independent, personal approach that has always been at the heart of Roundwood. We want every client who walks through our doors to feel welcomed, listened to and supported, and every pet to receive the very best care possible.

We're excited about the future, but most of all we're grateful to the community that has supported Roundwood Vets over the years. We look forward to continuing to care for your pets and their families for many years to come."

The Team Behind Roundwood Vets

While this announcement marks an exciting milestone for us, we know that Roundwood's success has never been about any one person.

It is built on the dedication, compassion and professionalism of an incredible team who show up every day to care for pets and support their owners.

From our vets and veterinary nurses to our student nurses, client care and support staff, every member of the Roundwood team plays an important role in creating the welcoming, caring environment that our clients know and trust.

Over the past six years, one of the things we have been most passionate about is building a workplace where people feel valued, respected and supported to grow.

Veterinary medicine can be an incredibly rewarding profession, but it can also be emotionally and physically demanding. We believe that caring for our team is just as important as caring for our patients.

We have worked hard to create a culture where people feel safe to learn, develop their skills, share ideas and support one another. Our values play a central role in that culture. We encourage honesty and open communication, celebrate personal and professional growth, support one another through teamwork and approach every day with kindness and conscientiousness. We also believe there should be room for enjoyment and laughter along the way, helping create a workplace where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.

We are particularly proud of the fact that many members of our team have grown with the practice over the years. Supporting people to develop their skills, pursue their interests and build fulfilling careers is something we care deeply about. Whether someone is taking their first steps in veterinary practice or has decades of experience, we want Roundwood Vets to be a place where people feel encouraged, valued and able to do their best work. We believe that investing in people is one of the most important things any practice can do.

We want Roundwood Vets to be a place where talented veterinary professionals can build fulfilling careers, continue learning and feel genuinely proud of the work they do. We believe that creating a positive workplace culture benefits not only our team, but also the pets and families who rely on us every day.

What makes us especially proud is seeing the relationships our team has built with the community. Many of our clients know our nurses, client care and support staff by name. They trust them, value them and appreciate the kindness, reassurance and expertise they bring every day.

When clients tell us that they felt supported during a difficult diagnosis, appreciated an extra phone call, received a warm welcome at reception or felt that someone genuinely cared about their pet, that is a reflection of the entire team.

As we begin this new chapter, we want every member of our team to know how grateful we are for everything they do. Roundwood Vets is what it is because of the people behind it, and we are incredibly proud of the culture we have built together and the reputation they have earned within our community.

Looking Ahead

As we look ahead, our commitment remains unchanged.

The values that have guided Roundwood Vets throughout its journey will continue to guide its future. We will remain honest in our communication, kind in our approach, conscientious in our decision-making, committed to teamwork, dedicated to continual growth and determined to create a practice where both pets and people can thrive.

Roundwood Vets will continue to be a proudly independent, community-focused practice where decisions are made locally, relationships matter and the wellbeing of pets always comes first.

As owners, we are committed not only to providing exceptional care for pets, but also to continuing to invest in the people who make that care possible. Building a workplace where people feel respected, supported and able to thrive will remain one of our highest priorities. We believe that when a team feels supported, valued and inspired to grow, our patients and clients benefit too.

While we are proud of our history, we are equally excited about the future. We will continue investing in our facilities, developing our services, supporting our team and embracing new ways to improve the care we provide, while never losing the personal touch that makes Roundwood Vets special.

Whether you've been with us for many years or have only recently joined the Roundwood family, thank you for your trust, support and loyalty. It is a privilege to care for your pets through every stage of their lives, from playful puppies and curious kittens to cherished senior companions.

Most importantly, we look forward to continuing to care for the wonderful dogs, cats and small pets who are at the heart of everything we do.

We are honoured to be part of this wonderful community and excited to continue serving local pets and their families for many years to come.

With warmest wishes,

Jo & Nikki
